About The Corrs
Many people don't know this, but The Corrs have been a band for almost 11 years. The Corrs began their music career almost streight after Andrea, the youngest of the siblings, left school. Jim Corr, song writer and guitarist in the band, always wanted to be involved in a band, and this was his oppotunity.
Before they released their first album, Forgiven not Forgotten, in the early 1990's, Andrea, Jim and the other girls, Caroline and Sharon, went for an acting role in the film The Commitments. From there, they met John Hughes who is now their manager.
The family band from Dundalk, near Dublin, Ireland, had their first ever gig in the Waterfront bar in Dundalk, infront of all their friends and family. A massive crowd of 200 people packed in this small pub to see the rising stars, The Corrs.
From there, they have gone from strength to strength, releasing their own written songs and being involved in a Fleetwood Mac tribute album. Now they have released their third album, In Blue, taking the world by storm. The Corrs are, must be and should be, the greatest and most successful family band the world has ever seen.

The Corrs Are:
Andrea (Lead vocals and plays Tin Whistle), Caroline (Drummer, occational backup vocalist and pianist, also bodhron player), Jim (Backup vocalist, guitarist and pianist) and Sharon (Violinist and backup vocalist).

All their profiles are available on the Corrs online website. (Go to the Links page.)

Current Tour (UK)
The Corrs ended their second "In Blue" UK tour last Wednesday when they played in Newcastle. Due to a previous ear infection then food poisoning, Andrea couldn't do some other tour dates in Japan and the US. Fortunatly, the UK tour went off without a hitch. Well... almost.

The Corrs in Concert, Birmingham
The Corrs were a success in Birmingham Sunday night when they played infront of a packed NEC arena. I was at the Concert with friends Garry and Adam, and here is a report.

The doors opened at 6pm in order to allow an easy flow of people into the arena. We followed the short path down to the arena doors, where inside we saw stalls selling programmes, t-shirts and other bits-and-bobs. We were shown to our seats 18 rows from the front row, and sat down excited to hopefully see another Corrs concert, and we were not dissappointed.

As usual with tours and other concerts, there was a support band. This was unusual for me to see as it was a fairly popular band called BBMak, of whom played their US No. 1 Hit, Back Here Baby. For almost an hour we were entertained by the band as the crowd were warming up for the entry to stage of the Corrs.

After a half hour interval, it was lights off, curtains open and excitement everywhere as the Corrs opened the concert with Only When I sleep (As predicted). During the song, Andrea had cuddly toys thrown towards here on the stage by happy fans. The noise was electric and I thought was better than their previous Birmingham concert on January 12th.

Strangeley, The Corrs didn't seem to keep to the same song layout or lighting as their other In Blue Tour concerts around the country. They played songs like "Somebody for Someone" and others off their "In Blue" album whereas previously playing "Closer", "Secret Life" and "No Frontiers". Whilst still playing, the crowd rose and were heavily clapping to the beat of the music.

Towards the middle of the Concert, a few mistakes were starting to arrise between Andrea and Sharon. Sharon occasionally missed a key when playing the violoin, and Andrea was about to play a different song to the rest of the band before she realised. Mistakes like that are always going to happen when seeing the Corrs, and are almost always part of the show.

The concert was getting better and better as the songs and the crowd got more up-beat. Andrea acknowledged her adoring fans by talking to them, and also changed some songs lyrics. Her collection of cuddly toys was getting bigger and bigger, as she lined them all up and sang to them infront of Caroline and her Drum kit.

The end of the concert was nearing, and as usual, they exited the stage before introducing the entire band and ending with their usual songs of "So Young" and "Toss the Feathers". The crowd were screaming and for 3 minutes the Corrs did not appear. When they did, it was one by one. First to come out was Caroline, followed by Jim, Sharon and finally Andrea. Then Came another little mistake by Sharon.

At the start of their penultimate song "So young", Sharon lost her grip on the violin and missed out a couple of keys. As she gained control, the crowd were still clapping along to the beat, singing alog and having a great time. People of all ages were thier to witness this amazing concert, and as it drew to a close with "Toss the Feathers", Andrea introduced the band. They exited the stage one final time, and the doors opened for the fans to leave the arena. All you could hear was talk of how good the concert was and when the next one was.

All in all a very entertaining night. I'm very tiered and I am sorry if I made any little mistakes in spellings etc. A great concert, when's the next one.

The Corrs Notices
The Corrs drought of no awards since last year has now ended as they picked up one of two nominated awards. They won best concert performance but lost out on the best international band awards which went to Westlife last year.
